Economics

(Inside

our father wishes

we were born calves

Do my nerves misfire Or

do the leaves in the corn field

cling and cut at once

Yield can mean money

or tenderness, but

often money

How many

bushels of soybeans

How many,

many pounds of meat

Singular, among summer

wheat: a stalk of corn

called a volunteer in spite

of the farmer

The only yield is the yielding

I plan to do
